Professional Development

The HEDS (Arena) programme is for all staff who teach or support students’ learning. It supports education development whilst sharing and recognising best practice across UCL.

This programme is for all staff who teach and support students' learning, aimed at improving the quality of teaching across the institution, and sharing and recognising best practice.

This includes:

  • Mandatory courses for PGTAs, new lecturers and supervisors
  • Optional courses and workshops for all staff, with some targeted at specific roles, such as Personal Academic Tutors, professional services colleagues, postdocs and education leaders
  • A wide range of online courses and resources designed at supporting all areas of educational practice.

The Arena Centre's workshops, courses and resources all support staff who wish to be professionally recognised for their educational practice through our Advance HE-accredited Arena Fellowship scheme.
