The Environment Domain champions the breadth of environmental research at UCL, facilitating interdisciplinary research collaboration that crosses departments and faculties. The domain focuses on five key environmental topics of air, freshwater, land and soil, biodiversity and oceans are three cross cutting themes of changing environments, people and livelihoods and resources and materials.
Changing Environments:
Including climate change, polar and mountain regions, paleo environments and coastal/ fluvial systems.
People and Livelihoods:
Including health, environmental disasters, gender, education, and urbanisation.
Resources and materials:
Including resource use, wastewater, energy and food systems.
The Environment Domain aims to support UCL academics and researchers by:
- Building ambitious, well-connected research communities to help staff overcome barriers to collaboration across disciplines.
- Engaging with Early Career Researchers through the EDEN network.
- Communicating potential funding sources and opportunities.
- Coordinating and developing large-scale strategic bids and supporting the development of strong interdisciplinary grant applications to maximise research and infrastructure investment.
- Raising the external profile of UCL's Environmental expertise and the impact of relevant research.
