Documenting, contextualising and planning for an ancient Assyrian heritage site in post-ISIS Iraq
Following an ISIS terrorist attack on Nimrud, Iraq, in 2015, Professor Eleanor Robson's research on the site’s ancient and modern history helped raise awareness of its global significance.

Cultural Heritage: Projects & Partnerships in Iraq
UCL's Nahrein Network Director Professor Eleanor Robson and Deputy Director Dr Mehiyar Kathem visited Baghdad last week, where they held an event in the Baghdadi Cultural Centre in Mutanabbi to celebrate the completion of Nahrein Network funded projects by Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) since 2017.
The event was chaired by former Nahrein Network - The British Institute for the Study of Iraq (BISI) Visiting Scholar Professor Ali Naji Attiyah of Kufa University. Principal Investigators came from different parts of Iraq including Anbar, Nineveh, Baghdad, Divala, Najaf, Babylon, Salahadeen, Qadissiyah and Thi Qar to present their projects.
