Student Psychological and Counselling Services
We are dedicated to helping UCL students with personal, emotional and psychological concerns. SPCS offers up to 6 free counselling sessions per year, from 1st August -31st July, for all students who are actively engaged in study at UCL.
Register with a GP (doctor)
To access this service, you need to be registered with a General Practitioner, also known as a GP.
UCL has a longstanding relationship with Ridgmount Practice which has a wide catchment area covering most of London. This allows students to remain registered with the same GP if they change accommodation during their time at UCL. Ridgmount Practice is experienced in student health.
If you are not yet registered with a GP doctor, please see below. The NHS also provides a helpful search tool, which will allow you to find a GP surgery near you.

Waiting times for counselling
Our waiting time for an initial appointment after registering is two to three weeks. This can sometimes rise in times of high demand. If we feel you are at higher risk, you will be prioritised.
All students are triaged within 24 hours of registering with SPCS. During triaging, if we feel you may be at higher risk, we will contact you by phone, email and/or text.
