Megaw/1950, 171, 178--179: `Besides the parish church, the ruins of no less than three `keeills' and the site of a fourth lie within the churchyard of Kirk Maughold...the cross-slabs imply the monastery was established before the end of the seventh century...In the absence of earlier archaeological evidence we can only assume that Maughold founded his monastery during the sixth or early seventh century'.
Site of Bishopric - earliest non-epigraphic reference from the Manx Chronicle of c. 1260.
