Hamlin/2001, 57: `The stone had come from an extensive cemetery `which had been entirely subjected to tillage' in the field nearly opposite the entrance to Echlinville demesne .. Echlinville was formerly known as Rubane, and a saint called Tiu is associated with Rubha at 24 June in the twelfth-century Martyrology of Gorman, and a later gloss locates this place in the Ards of Ulster. ... The lost inscribed stone is the only material evidence recorded from what was clearly an early church site in this area'.
