Macalister/1949, 124: `In addition to the weird series of sculptured figures which lend a unique interest to the little Romanesque church on this island, Wakeman records [an inscription]'.
Hamlin/2001, 62--63: `White Island in Lower Lough Erne is, like Kilcoo, historically obscure. No patron is recorded and the church site cannot be identified in any early written sources, yet it has a famous group of carved stone figures, probably of the ninth or tenth centuries'.
