This module will examine selected aspects of the archaeology of the Later Roman Empire (c. AD 300 - 700).
Following a brief historical overview the module will examine topics such as the archaeology of the early Christian church, the late Roman army, late Roman fortifications, town and country in the Later Roman Empire, late Roman economics and migrations, barbarians and ethnicity. In all cases emphasis will be given to the archaeological evidence.
