Research Assistants/Research Fellows vacancies
Research Fellow in computational system design of gas adsorption in porous materials
The position will be based in the Department of Chemical Engineering at UCL East and the Bloomsbury campus of UCL and we support hybrid working arrangements. The project is in collaboration with Industry and is funded by the Innovate UK. This position is within the Computer-aided Materials Discovery Laboratory led by Dr Peyman Z. Moghadam. The project aims at designing CO2 capture systems based on solid-adsorption separation.
The major role of the post holder will design an adsorption-based process/system for CO2 capture using COMSOL or gProms. The adsorption processes will be designed for temperature and pressure swing processes.
Salary is £43,124 - £45,372 per annum inclusive of London Allowance.
This is a fixed-term role until 31st March 2025.

Next-generation electrolytes for aluminium-based batteries
The UCL Department of Chemical Engineering (https://www.ucl.ac.uk/chemical-engineering/ucl-chemical-engineering) is internationally renowned for its exceptional research and high quality of teaching. The student will be primarily based at the new UCL East Campus, hosting cutting-edge research facilities set in cross-disciplinary hubs. As part of the Advanced Propulsion Lab (APL), the student will have access to equipment and expertise spanning electrochemical engineering, chemistry, materials science and mechanical engineering in a truly collaborative environment.
The applicant will be required to undertake practical laboratory work, process and analyse data, self-lead day-to-day activities, update on progress through reports and presentations, write scientific articles and present at national and international conferences. The post is fully funded (stipend and UK fees) for 3.5 years, commencing 1st February 2025. Overseas students may apply, provided they can independently cover the difference between UK and overseas tuition fees.
