About 关于我们

The UCL China Centre was launched in 2022 to help build a community of China expertise at UCL.

The UCL China Centre for Politics, Law and Culture is a multidisciplinary centre dedicated to the study and understanding of China. The idea for the centre grew out of the BA International Social and Political Studies degree programme, which is the only degree at UCL that combines the study of Mandarin with a rounded education in humanities and social science, as well as a year abroad in China and Taiwan.

Building on our expertise both as researchers and educators, we decided to take the next step and set up a network that would share our knowledge, research agenda, teaching material and academic resources, as well as events with the wider UCL community. By bringing on board our friends and associates from other universities around the world, we intend to become a key node of China knowledge for UCL alongside other China-related centres and institutes. We hope to contribute to an informed, fact-driven debate on China and the wider Chinese-speaking world by playing to our strength as a multidisciplinary department driven by excellent research and teaching.
