Why Oral Surgery?

Oral surgery is a dynamic specialty, continually evolving to encompass the advances of research in order to enhance the everyday clinical experience of patients. The specialty includes the diagnosis and surgical treatment of conditions of the mouth, jaws, face and salivary glands. Facial pain, oral cancer, trauma and facial deformity will also be studied. Each day presents new challenges to the clinician’s academic knowledge and clinical skills.

Why Eastman?

Our well-established Oral Surgery programmes have been running for many decades. Theoretical and clinical elements of the Oral Surgery programmes combine to create an enjoyable balance of academic study and patient care which provides a strong foundation for a future career in this field. Graduates from the unit have gone on to hold senior positions in Oral Surgery both within the UK and around the world.

During the course there are opportunities to undertake a research project which requires independent supervised study. On completing the course graduates are then encouraged to publish their research findings both nationally and internationally. Hands-on, supervised clinical work in oral surgery is also a very popular component of the course.
