About

The new Policy Research Unit in Reproductive Health is a collaboration between world-leading researchers at University College London, University of Birmingham, University of Oxford, Warwick University, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Co-Production Collective, Hywel Dda and experts by experience.

What is reproductive health?

Reproductive health concerns physical, mental and social well-being relating to the reproductive system, including a safe and satisfying sex life and reproductive rights.

Aim

research-icon
To provide high-quality research to help policymakers make evidence-based decisions about reproductive health and healthcare.

Our vision is to improve reproductive health and wellbeing and reduce reproductive health inequalities in England.

Objectives

innovation-icon
We will work in partnership with people with lived experience, policymakers, clinicians, and other stakeholders:
  • To carry out research to help policymakers make decisions about reproductive healthcare which are based on the best available evidence; and
  • To produce clear evidence on effective and cost-effective health service innovations that meet patients’ and policy-makers' needs.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion are central to the way the collaboration works and to the work itself, including our focus on inequalities and research gaps. Our work will focus on multiple disadvantages, including gender, ethnicity, sexuality, disability, and socioeconomic status. This is enabled by our commitment to engagement with and involvement of diverse stakeholders throughout the research and policy cycle and integration of reproductive rights as a cross-cutting concern.
