In this edited volume, editors Alison Hicks (UCL Information Studies), Annemaree Lloyd (UCL Information Studies) and Ola Pilerot (University of Borås, Swedish School of Library and Information Science) provide a space to discuss, interrogate and reflect on the applicability of theory within information literacy research as well as the implications for this work. Information literacy research is growing in importance, as evidenced by interest in digital and open research, health promotion and mis-information. However, scholarship often remains focused on technical, practical, or problem-solving topics while conceptual research often takes place without a comprehensive understanding of ontological or epistemological foundations.
Information Literacy through Theory is published by Facet. More information can be found here.
In this book launch, four chapter authors will discuss how information literacy is shaped by theory, including how theory opens up and closes off how we think about, research and implement thinking about how we become informed.
The event will take place online on Zoom.
