Professor Martin Rossor

NIHR National Director for Dementia Research

Professor of Clinical Neurology at University College London, and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery London. He is also the NIHR National Director for Dementia Research and a NIHR Senior Investigator.

He trained in Neurology at the National Hospital, Queen Square and undertook research into the neurochemistry of degenerative dementia at the MRC Neurochemical Pharmacology Unit, Cambridge. His clinical research interests are in neurodegenerative disease and particularly in familial Alzheimer’s disease.

Adam Smith

Programme Director

With a background working within the NHS and Department of Health and Social Care. Adam is now the Programme Director responsible for leading a number of initiatives to improve dementia research, as well as pursuing his own research interests. This includes creating the national Join Dementia Research service to support recruitment to dementia studies across the UK, and Dementia Researcher a highly successful service to support early career researchers, this work includes producing and often hosting a popular podcast series. In his spare time, he grows vegetables, builds Lego and spends most of his time drinking too much coffee and squeezing technology into his house.

Dr Megan Calvert O’Hare

Research Associate

Megan is responsible for the smooth running of the NIHR NDDR, she has co-authored a number of papers during her time in this role and is the lead host for the sucessful Dementia Researcher podcast services. Megan helps deliver on most NDDR projects, and provides writing support to the office for manuscript research and development.  

Tathiana Santana

PA/Administrator

Tathiana is Professor Rossor's personal assistant and is the administrator of the NDDR office.
