What excites our researchers about their work?
The Child Vision Lab - Research at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology
Dr Jones and Dr Dekker run the UCL Child Vision Lab, which studies visual development and its neural mechanisms in children with normal vision and eye disease.
Sasha Woods - Research at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology
Sasha has been doing research into mactel in the Fruttiger lab since 2016.
Nick Burt - Research at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology
Nick started 16 years ago in a lab at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology and has moved into Research Management.
Marcus Fruttiger - Research at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology
Marcus Fruttiger’s group investigates the development and the physiology of the retinal vasculature, as well as diseases that affect the retinal vasculature, such as diabetic retinopathy, retinopathy of prematurity and Macular Telangiectasia.
Mariya Moosajee - Research at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology
Mariya’s research is focussing on investigating the molecular aetiology and disease mechanisms causing congenital eye anomalies and inherited retinal disease. She also has a strong focus on developing novel molecular therapies for genetic eye disease with clinical translation.
Mathew Tata - Research at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology
Mat started at the Institute of Ophthalmology as a PhD student and continued to work here as a Research Associate.
Anthony Khawaja - Research at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology
Anthony is a consultant ophthalmologist surgeon managing patients with glaucoma and researching the genetic causes and predictors of glaucoma and treatment success.
