Abstract:
GIT is a theory for obtaining quotients in algebraic geometry sense. If we have a (reductive) group acting on an algebraic variety, GIT gives a recipe for the construction of the quotient variety with respect to this action. In this talk, we will see the general construction of GIT quotients. We will also see a few examples to see how it works exactly in very special cases.
