Abstract:

Many gauge theory equations give rise to interesting moduli spaces. One such case is that of monopoles, which are solutions to the Bogomolny equation over a 3-manifold. In this talk, we will introduce some important concepts in gauge theory and the study of monopoles, and illustrate some of the tools necessary to construct their moduli spaces as quotients of infinite-dimensional objects.
