I was attracted to study at UCL because I’ve always liked the English way of life and culture, in particular the legal culture. Before joining UCL Laws, I was an Erasmus student at the De Montfort School of Law in Leicester and did an internship at the International Maritime Organization in London.
I have fond memories of UCL Laws, for example of the weekends spent exploring the different London neighbourhoods and of the long weekdays at the library of the Institute for Advanced Legal Studies, which I still visit from time to time. I made some great friends and I’m pleased that I’m still in touch with some of them.
After graduating in 1999, I had the opportunity to spend an additional year of study in the USA thanks to a Fulbright grant. Once I returned to Italy, I pursued an academic career and I am now Professor of Law at the University of Genoa, where I teach EU Law and Law of the Sea. I am also partner of a law firm where I focus on commercial and corporate law (including litigation) often with an international or European flavour.
