Notes |
The association between the estate originally shown as 'Browns' but now corrected to Rooms in Antigua no. 54 in the compensation records and the estate on which the enslaved people were registered for the 'heirs of Christopher Bethel' in 1817 and 1821 has been inferred. The awardees of the compensation under Antigua no. 54 were Mrs A.M. Bethell (widow of William John Bethell ne Codrington); Admiral Sir Edward Codrington; and Bethel Walrond (the son of Caroline Codrington and Joseph Lyons Walrond). William John Codrington, Edward Codrington and Caroline Codrington, the children of Edward Codrington, were co-heirs under the will of Christopher Bethel proved in 1797. |
