[Name] Grand Roi [Size] 332 An indenture of 09/01/1799 between Henry Poole of Woodford and Joseph Marryat of New Bridge Street gave background on Grand Roi: By a deed of 05/03/1787 Marie Mariecheau and Jean Baptiste Ollivier had mortgaged Grand Roi with 115 enslaved people, Mon Plaisir with 103 enslaved people, and a further 42 enslaved people, to Thomas Harrison of Angel Court and Henry Poole his partner for £20,000 (there was also a balance due on current account of £917 5s) at 6%p.a. Mariecheau and Ollivier had committed to repay a total of £26,926 5s over the following 8 years. Harrison had died c. 31/12/1791 having assigned his interest in the mortgage to Poole.
