Notes

This appears to have been the pen of which A.E. Furness wrote:

'Ten years later in 1781, he [John Tharp IV] acquired 7,500 acres of crown land in the Cockpit Country, the mountainous country above the Martha Brae valley. Later, in 1791, he was able to complete his estate next to the mountains by buying the thousand acre Hawkerton plantation from William Guthrie for over £6,000 currency. He gave the name Windsor to this estate he had built up so patiently next to the mountains.'

Furness noted that the 1804 map of the County of Cornwall did not show a sugar estate named Windsor, and concluded it was a pen, borne out by LBS' data. [The 1804 map does show Windsor Castle estate (JA1926) in Trelawny which is given as a sugar estate with a cattle mill but in the almanacs and slave registers has fewer than 50 enslaved people settled upon it.]
