The Jamaican will of Archibald Campbell of Askinish, proved in July 1830, entered at RGD 23 April 1831, named his “well beloved son Alexander Campbell of Colour” as one of his executors together with Harford Jones, 'merchant at Lucea’ (Hanover claims 314,315,316) partner in Jones & Martin. Askinish was divided into three shares: one third to Alexander Campbell, one third to Archibald's nephew, Trafford Campbell (emigrated to Canada in 1828) and one third to four unmarried daughters and their mother, Elizabeth Malcolm Campbell (a free mulatto).
