Major slave-owner in Jamaica. Died c. 1783.
"Coll. Cons. St. Andrew 1768, '70. M.A. St. Andrew 1768, '81. Died 1783. In 1770, a private act as passed to enable him to take up a sufficient quantity of water for turning mills for grinding sugar canes out of or from Agua-alta-river commonly called Wag Water River in St. Andrew, and to convey the same to the works in his plantation in said parish called Constant Spring."
The will of Daniel Moore of St Andrew, Esq., was proved in Jamaica 19/02/1784 and mentions several reputed children who he identifies as "white".

Total value of estate at probate: £7650.07 Jamaican currency of which £6340 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £0 currency cash, £0 currency debts and £61.75 currency plate.
Daniel Moore contributed £23 15s to the University of Pennsylvania following Dr John Morgan's fundraising tour of the West Indies in 1772-1773.

1770, Oct. 12. Indenture between Henry Archbould, late of Kingston, Jamaica, now of Panton Sq. in St James', Westminster, Esq., of the one part, and Benjamin Gee, gent., witnesseth that in consideration of £420 Henry Archbould sells to Benjamin Gee an annuity of £70. Reciting that by Indenture of 24 July 1765 Daniel Moore of Kingston Jamaica, Merchant, in consideration of £13,340 conveyed to H. A. that plantation in St. Andrews called Constant Spring of 1400 acres, 400 acres of mountain, also Archboulds Penn in St. Catherine of 211 acres. An annuity of £200 was sold to John Hyde. Signed by H. Archbould. However, in 1770 Daniel Moore reportedly sought a private act to allow him to divert water to his Constant Spring estate. |
