Awarded with others half the compensation for the enslaved people on the Whim estate on Tobago as mortgagees, most likely in a trustee capacity for the family of Rev. James Hamilton (q.v.).

  1. In 1851 Edward Collins aged 68 Justice of the Peace born Truthan was living at Truthan, St Erme Cornwall with wife Elizabeth aged 45, and 6 servants. Will of Edward Collins of Trusham [sic] Cornwall proved 16/07/1855; the will of another Edward Collins of St Erme Cornwall, presumably Edward Collins the elder, was proved 30/10/1827.

  2. Edward Collins of Truthan and Newton Ferrars Cornwall, JP and DL, High Sheriff 1830, born 07/09/1782, son of Edward Collins and Mary Thomas, married Elizabeth daughter of Francis Drake ("late Envoy Extrordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary at Munich") in 1831; 3 sons: Edward, Charles and Digby. Francis Drake of Yardbury and Wells (1764-1821) was a diplomat during the Napoleonic Wars, Ambassador to the Republic of Genoa and to the Court at Munich.
