T71/885 British Guiana claim no. 584 (Hope). David Alston, Slaves and Highlanders connects this man with Hugh Douglas of Demerara who was bankrupt in 1802, and with Hugh Douglas of Douglas Hall 'late of Demerara' who in 1817 married Agnes Peters in Glasgow and was at that time a merchant in Port Greenock.
