Grade II* house probably built for the Liverpool 'West India merchant' [in fact slave-trader] and MP John Hardman who bought the estate in 1736 with his brother James. Bought by James Willasey in 1816 from the abolitionist William Roscoe and sold by the Willasey family in 1824.
