Further information

NHS Home Library

NHS staff are assigned to their nearest medical library site, which is their "Home" library. Please see respective library site webpages for full details of their opening hours and services.

If the end of contract is less than three months from the date of application to join the Library, membership will be for reference use only and borrowing will not be possible.

For staff on rotation, Home library privileges apply while the staff member is based on site. If staff rotate to a site served by another UCL Library, Home library status normally moves with them. If staff rotate to a Trust not covered by the Library Service Agreement, library privileges over and above reference access are governed by local agreements, and may vary from site to site. Reference services only are provided to non-medical students on placement.

Other NHS library services

There are other Libraries supporting Trusts covered by the Library Service Agreement, which are not part of the agreement:

NHS Staff with Honorary Contracts

NHS Staff with UCL Honorary Contracts are eligible to access the full range of UCL's electronic library resources both on and off-site. Once confirmation of the UCL Honorary Contract is received, the appropriate departmental computer representative should be contacted to request access to an ISD computing account.

RNID Staff

RNID staff (but not members) are entitled to reference access to Library Services. As the Ear Institute and Action on Hearing Loss Libraries are now closed, RNID staff can submit applications via the online process.

To apply for membership, RNID staff must complete the online registration form and attach:

  1. A passport style photo (colour, facing camera).
  2. A photo/scan of your RNID staff card or other evidence of current RNID staff status.

NHS staff employed by the Whittington Health NHS Trust
