Saqqara: The Sacred Animal Necropolis:
objects in the Petrie Museum from cache 9
Cache 9 in the Falcon gallery was the largest deposit of bronze temple furniture found at Saqqara. Most of the items were carefully wrapped in linen. Most of the objects seem to belong to the early Ptolemaic Period. It is possible that most objects were placed here under Ptolemy IV Philometor. It is known from other sources that he re-endowed the temple. However, there is also a stela dated to 89 BC found in the gallery, indicating continuing religious actvity at the site.
