Claudiu was born in 1974 and he obtained
a BSc in chemistry and physics (1997) and an MSc in inorganic chemistry
(1999) from "Al. I. Cuza" University of Iasi, Romania. In 2003 he
completed his PhD thesis in Environmental Technology at University of
Calabria, Italy, investigating the crystallization parameters for
synthesis of microporous titanosilicates materials and their use in the
purification of waste waters containing radioactive cations.
Subsequently, he returned to Romania and took up a position of
Assistant Professor at "Al. I. Cuza" University of Iasi in the
department of Materials Science and Chemical Technology. He joined the
group of Ferdi Schuth at Max-Planck-Institut fur Kohlenforschung,
Germany in September 2004. Following his interest for research in
zeolites science, he began working on the structural modification of
crystalline ETS-10 titanosilicate in order to improve its catalytic
activity. In October 2006, he came to Manchester to investigate the
nucleation and crystal growth processes of nanoporous materials. Apart
from work, he enjoys listening to music, travelling, walking, and
Italian cooking; especially when made by his wife.".
Claudiu has now joined Institute for Transuranium Elements.
