Itzel was working as a post-doctoral
fellow on the EPSRC funded project on "Crystal Growth of Nanoporous
Materials". She specialises in AFM methods for the study of in situ
crystallization. Itzel was born in Xalapa, Mexico in 1975. She was
awarded a national scholarship from Fundaci_n Lorena Alejandra Gallardo
to attend the Universidad Aut_noma Metropolitana (UAM) and graduated
with distinction in 1997 in Industrial Biochemical Engineering. She
subsequently worked for Procter and Gamble, Mexico in research and
development. She then moved to Manchester, UK and joined the Centre for
Nanoporous Materials to pursue a Doctoral degree. Her PhD thesis was
entitled "Nanoscale study of the growth of zeolite crystals: A
scanning-probe microscopy investigation" and she was awarded the Degree
of Doctor of Philosophy in the field of Chemistry from The University
of Manchester in 2006. Itzel has now joined Procter and Gamble
In her spare time she enjoys writing, reading
and going to the cinema.
