Grammar schools send more BME students to Cambridge than comprehensives
Dr Lindsey Macmillan (UCL Institute of Education) commented on a report that BME grammar school pupils are more likely to reach Oxbridge, saying grammar school areas are mostly affluent with more degree-educated people, "characteristics that support access to elite universities."
Common drugs such as statins may help alleviate mental illness
Dr Joseph Hayes (UCL Psychiatry) and his team find that cheap common medicines, such as statins, diabetes and blood pressure drugs, may also help alleviate the symptoms of severe mental illnesses including schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Overweight people have smaller brains, study suggests
People who carry too much weight around their middle have smaller brains, with some up to 12 cubic cm smaller than in people of a healthy weight, finds a study by Professor David Batty (UCL Institute of Epidemiology & Health) and researchers from Loughborough University.
