Cancer MSc

Excited for the future

I am aiming for a career in cancer research, specifically focusing on the molecular mechanisms of cancer and clinical trials. My goal is to contribute to the development of more effective treatments and to improve our understanding of this complex disease.

My studies provided a solid foundation in cancer research, covering everything from the basic science of cancer biology to the complexities of clinical trial design. The academic environment at UCL challenged me to think critically and to develop a deep understanding of the subject matter.

There are numerous exciting paths to pursue in this field, from working in academic research to joining pharmaceutical companies or clinical research organisations. I am eager to explore the various opportunities in this field and to collaborate with other researchers and healthcare professionals to advance our knowledge and treatment of cancer, making a direct impact on patient care, which is incredibly motivating for me.

Skills inside and outside the classroom

The Master’s degree was definitely challenging, however it taught me a lot about resilience. Balancing intense coursework, research projects, and extracurricular activities pushed me to stay determined and adaptable. I learned to prioritise tasks, manage my time effectively, and stay focused under pressure. This resilience I’ve gained has been a game-changer, helping me navigate the ups and downs of my career path and preparing me for whatever comes next.

Participating in various events and networking opportunities greatly enhanced my confidence and communication skills. I attended numerous seminars and workshops where I had the chance to interact with leading experts in the field. These experiences taught me how to articulate my thoughts clearly and confidently, whether I was presenting my research or engaging in discussions.

UCL Hindu Society

The highlight of my time at UCL has to be participating in the Rangeela show organised by UCL’s Hindu Society. This event was a vibrant celebration of Indian culture and traditions, featuring a variety of performances, including music, dance, and drama. Participating in Rangeela pushed me out of my comfort zone and gave me the adrenaline rush of performing on stage, something I had never experienced before.

I had the opportunity to dive into various Indian dance traditions, which was both challenging and incredibly rewarding. I met some amazing people from diverse backgrounds, and we bonded over long rehearsals and shared our cultural stories.

This experience gave my self-confidence a huge boost. Performing in front of a large audience taught me to manage my nerves and present myself with poise, skills that have been invaluable in both personal and professional settings.

Gain knowledge. Gain advantage. Make your Master’s matter.
