Factual Storytelling MA

Gaining essential skills

I am pursuing an MA in Immersive Factual Storytelling at UCL, where the technical skills I’ve acquired in the devices and software are essential for my intended career of content production within Virtual Reality.

The interdisciplinary skills and extensive project experience I have gained at UCL have consistently fostered my creative thinking. This experience has not only sparked my interest in the creative and cultural industries but has also bolstered my confidence in realising and delivering projects.

However, the most significant takeaway from this course has been a highly transferable soft skill - Storytelling, which equips me to highlight the narrative nature of products in any job setting, not just VR.

Career options

My involvement in career sessions at School for Creative and Cultural Industries in UCL has deepened my understanding of the array of job opportunities within creative sectors, as well as the diverse creative roles available in foundational industries.

Additionally, my role as a Student Academic Representative has afforded me the privilege of engaging regularly with a broad network of students and faculty from various disciplines. It has facilitated invaluable exchanges through intercultural communication, enriching my perspective and expanding my contemplation of future possibilities.

Studying in London

I must admit, my year as a postgraduate at UCL has profoundly transformed my perception of London. Before this, I had never fully imagined what stepping into the hustle and bustle of London would feel like. Now, I find myself deeply embedded in the narrative of London (a truly immersive experience in its own right?).

The city has offered me much beyond a wealth of academic and professional resources, such as a gateway to a refined artistic lifestyle.

I'd like to recommend three top activities in London that epitomise such experience:

  • London Dungeon: An immersive theatre experience that invites audience participation, allowing you to interact with the performance and uncover mysteries.
  • Back to the Future: A science fiction stage show named after the iconic film, which transports its characters back in time and takes me back to my childhood at the same time.
  • Lightroom Live: A 360-degree exhibition space that transcends artistic genres by blending visual arts like painting with music to create a stunning immersive experience.
