Introduction
Epistemic trust involves social judgements about the reliability, relevance and value of information. Developmental psychopathologists have recently proposed that entrenched disruptions in epistemic trust, which may partially be rooted in adverse childhood experiences, may be a key risk factor for the emergence of mental health disorders.
Traditionally the domain of philosophers and sociologists, the work at UCL seeks to explore the significance of epistemic trust as a factor in vulnerability and resilience, as a treatment barrier, and as a driver of difficulties in social functioning.
