Rachel Harrington – BA/BFA
Rachel Harrington (b.1996) is a London-based artist specialising in mixed media sculpture, installation and occasionally illustration. Her work dramatises and demonises the inevitable process of growing up, through manipulating familiar childhood objects and classic gothic and horror themes. Her view of puberty as the ‘beginning of the end’ spreads a particularly pessimistic tone and sense of chaotic panic within her most recent displays: the threat of imminent adult sexuality is a confrontational reminder of the young body’s change and development without the mind’s choice in the matter.
