Dialects of the Body, Drawing

, 2013, graphite on paper, 136 x 106 cm.Sara Naim
Sara Naim aims for ambiguous forms to provoke a discontinuity with the viewer’s own body, enabling them to go beyond the image and into displacement. It is the lack of identification with our inherent and internal body which she strives to accentuate.
'Dialects of the Body' aims to find a physical form to something that is unknown. There is an intentionality in the produced work but the results aren’t always immediately understood. This recognition of intent but inability to decipher meaning stems from Sara's interest in language and the form of something that delivers meaning, or not. These images derive from her dead skin cells, corrupted files of her blood cells, and cadavers from medical institutes.
