It is your responsibility to organise your accommodation for your time abroad. This page provides information on factors you should take into consideration when doing your research.
Research all possibilities
Beginning your research early will allow you time to make an informed decision. Visit your host university’s website, seek advice from students currently abroad or those that have recently returned. Do not assume you will automatically be allocated university housing; be prepared to look for accommodation in the private sector.
Consider your options
Finding a spacious, reasonably priced apartment in the centre of a metropolitan area may be ideal, but it is not particularly realistic. Look at the options available to you, prioritise amenities (with your budget in mind!) and be prepared to compromise.
Be patient
Although moving to a new country prior to securing accommodation may seem incredibly daunting, it is extremely common for our students to do so. If possible, arrive early to begin your search and be prepared to spend your first week in a hotel or hostel.
