Support Services Fair
Support Services Fair
The Support Services Fair gives you a chance to talk to various teams and experts at UCL who can help develop a skill, start a business, learn about volunteering, find a job, access mental or physical health support and provide more detailed information and advice. We've split this page into central UCL support services and Students' Union UCL services.
Central UCL Support Services
Academic Communication Centre
The UCL Academic Communication Centre (ACC) is here to support you with your academic communication throughout your studies. We work closely with UCL academic departments and faculties to develop workshops, courses and tutorials to enhance your writing and speaking skills so that you can make the most of your time at UCL, whether you are writing your first essay or lab report, planning your dissertation, or preparing a presentation. Visit the Academic Communication Centre website, or access our support via moodle. You can also contact us via email at acc@ucl.ac.uk.
Innovation and Enterprise
Entrepreneurship is about more than starting a business, although that is one aspect of what we do. UCL Innovation and Enterprise supports UCL students at all stages of their entrepreneurial journey. From uncovering their entrepreneurial skills and mindset, finding their entrepreneurial purpose, through to exploring ideas and building startups. All students can benefit from our free extracurricular entrepreneurship workshops.

International Student Support
International Student Support can help with many issues faced by new international students such as opening a UK bank account, transferring money into the UK, registering with a GP and accessing different types of healthcare and finding a job. We can also direct students to online resources such as the International Student Online Orientation Course which allows students to learn more about life at UCL and in London in their own time.
IT Services
We have helpful online and in-person resources to assist students throughout their online student journey. These include:
- Our IT Essentials page, links students to assistance with IT issues (IT Service Desk), free and discounted software, laptop loans and digital education.
- The UCL Go app, where students can access their timetables, emails, find study space, get news updates, navigate with campus maps, access digital training and more.
- Digital Skills Training and LinkedIn Learning.
- The Digital Accessibility Hub, is an equipped space with up-to-date software and technology designed for students with disabilities.
- Free and discounted student software.
Security
The Security Team would like you to know about our Safezone app which allows students and staff to contact UCL Security and request emergency support at the touch of a button and get an instant response. Off campus, it can be used to contact the emergency services and provides accurate location details for a quicker response from the emergency services anywhere in the world. All UCL locations have been set up as geo-fenced areas in the app, so if a person logs in or sends an emergency alert, the system will know if they are on campus and can respond appropriately. Location information is only available to the institution. If the person has logged in whilst inside a geo-fenced area or sends an emergency alert message, the user has full control over this. Watch this video for more details on how it can be used.
Student Support and Wellbeing Services
Our team of expert wellbeing, disability and mental health staff provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space, in which you can discuss any issues that may be affecting your ability to study. All of our support services are free of charge and open to UCL students of all levels. There are three ways you can contact Student Support and Wellbeing Services: submitting an online query via askUCL, visiting our team or calling our Student Support and Wellbeing Services Phone Line. The team also hosts regular events and activities to help you maintain your wellbeing. Visit the Student Support and Wellbeing Services website for further information.
UCL Careers
Our team of experienced careers professionals are dedicated to helping you find the right path to ensure success in your future career. Students' Union UCL Support Services
Students' Union Academic Representation
We empower students to have a voice, and be able to change the way things work at UCL. Be a force for good and become a Representative of your halls, course or wider issue.
Students' Union Advice Service
University is a big, exciting place. But life isn't always easy. We're here to give you support when you need us, care about the things you care about, and fight for you when you need someone in your corner. Our job is to make sure you feel supported every day. Our Advice and Support Team is free to access for UCL students, and we're independent from the University, so you can trust we're looking out for your best interests.
Students' Union Community Research Initiative
We connect UCL master's students with London's voluntary sector to share knowledge and ideas. Any project that emerges can be collaborative and form a student dissertation as well as new knowledge for the Community Partner. Find out more information on the Community Research Initiative webpage.
Students' Union Project Active
Project Active offers low-cost physical activity for UCL staff and students. Our weekly classes run throughout term time and include Pilates, Yoga, Box HIIT, Dance Fit, Regents Park Run and Barre. Three of our classes are women only and are led by female instructors, and we also offer Postgraduate only classes. All of our classes are beginner friendly and offer a relaxed and social environment to meet fellow UCL students. This term we are offering Social Leagues in 5-a-side football, table tennis and touch rugby. Social Leagues are a great way to keep active in a relaxed environment, with a friendly and non-competitive atmosphere.
Students' Union Volunteering Service
We're the Volunteering Service - we connect UCL students with rewarding, good quality community volunteering opportunities across London. We've got hundreds of different volunteering roles, including flexible and one-off opportunities. We cover the whole range of volunteering- environmental sustainability, children and young people, homelessness, refugees, campaigning, museums and culture, health projects, disability, mental health and much, much more. Have an explore on the Volunteering Service website, find something you like and get involved!
