Towards Next Generation Healthcare, using Computational Biomechanics

Our mission is to innovate and improve healthcare systems by using the knowledge of biomechanics, especially with computational approaches. Specifically, we develop new computational methods to realise more representative and reliable but practical physiological modelling, validated by in vivo and in vitro experimental measurements. We then use the methods and tools developed to investigate the roles of biomechanics in physiology and pathophysiology in cardiovascular systems. Understanding of cardiovascular system leads to development and optimisation of therapeutic options, e.g. medical devices. To maximise the real-world impact of our research, most of the research activities involve close and strong collaboration with hospitals worldwide, and through national and international medico-engineering consortia.
