After the first part, which shows what TRANSYT is and how it works, the Thesis discusses the main differences between traffic behaviour in developed and developing countries, and investigates the possibilities of representing some of the particular aspects by the simulation model offered in the software. This investigation leads to the conclusion that both the original model and some adaptation experiments are unable to well represent two types of common behaviour in cities of developing countries.
Afterwards, the Thesis presents a new modelling method, developed to simulate these situations. The method is theoretically justified and its implementation is shown. Then its application to an actual situation found in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, is described.
The conclusions of this application confirm that the proposed modelling
method simulates the practical situations better than the conventional
TRANSYT model.
investiga as
As conclusões possíveis a partir desta aplicação
