Wing Shing Low

Wing Shing Low talks about why he chose to study the Advanced Clinical Practice in Optometry and Ophthalmology MSc.

Full name: Wing Shing Low
Degree title and year of programme: Advanced Clinical Practice in Optometry and Ophthalmology MSc

Why did you choose to apply to this programme?

As a hospital optometrist I felt that I needed more knowledge to be an effective practitioner in extended role clinics. I applied for this course as it offered the clinical knowledge I was interested in, as well as training in other aspects such as research and leadership.

What have you enjoyed most about the programme so far?

I've enjoyed the clinical modules most as they are up to date and relevant to my work. I feel the knowledge made me make more reasoned decisions in clinics more efficiently.

What are your future career goals?

I wish to expand my scope of practice and perhaps gain more autonomy in managing patients. I am also inspired by the course to incorporate research in my career.

What would be your top tip for incoming students?

Do not under-estimate the amount of work needed to be done. Start chipping away at it early but don't try to get it all done in one go.
