About the Speakers
Paul Breen (chair)
Senior Lecturer at UCL's Academic Communication Centre
Paul Breen is a Senior Lecturer in UCL's Academic Communication Centre, where he is also a senior digital learning developer. He is widely published in both the academic and popular domains, mainly writing about language, culture, identity and technologies. He gained his PhD in Education through the University of Manchester and subsequently adapted that into a publication with Westminster University Press, entitled Developing Educators for the Digital Age. His interest in technologies developed through an earlier stint in teaching Media Studies and also through a lifelong addiction to music, photography, film and storytelling.
Nigel Kingsman
Head of Assurance at Holistic AI
Nigel is the Head of AI Assurance at Holistic AI, responsible for risk assessing and assuring clients' algorithmic use. Holistic AI provides software solutions for enterprises who want to harness AI ethically & safely. Previously, he spent 20 years within the investment banking industry across derivatives trading and structuring roles at UBS. He enjoys bringing the associated risk management expertise to a new domain. Nigel has an Undergraduate and Master's in Mathematics and a Master's of Science in Machine Learning from UCL.
Yasmin Greenaway
Founder at Dermie.AI
Yasmin Greenaway (MSc Technology Entrepreneurship 2018) is founder of AI Teledermatology startup, Dermie.AI. Dermie builds Computer Vision models that can detect disease remotely, from images. They have created proprietary models that can detect skin cancer at greater accuracy than doctors with 10 years experience, alongside other diseases like psoriasis. When used as clinical diagnosis support or to assist with screening patients, this radically transforms future ways of working, using AI. Through Dermie, Yasmin has received investment from Google, various venture capital funds and investors from DeepMind and CEOs of global insurance companies.
Nikhil Sehgal
Founder and CEO at Vastmindz
Nikhil Sehhal (BSc Mathematics with Economics 2014) is the founder and CEO of Vastmindz, the leading provider of innovative software that is making health monitoring more accessible than ever. He has a background in AI and machine learning, and has been recognized as a Forbes 30 Under 30 entrepreneur and a Microsoft Partner of the Year for 2022 honouree. Under Nikhil's leadership, Vastmindz is making a huge impact in the health-tech industry and is helping people around the world live healthier lives.
Agne Sanders
Privacy Program Manager
Agne is a UCL alumni and a distinguished Data Management, Privacy Technology & AI Governance specialist. With an unyielding passion for data, technology, and privacy law, she has had a diverse career navigating intricate data challenges, designing scalable, reliable data solutions, and guiding large cross-functional teams to achieve ambitious goals. Agne has played pivotal roles at esteemed technology and financial organisations, consistently shaping data governance and privacy initiatives and data management landscape.”
