Find your concentration dipping after lunch? Want to know how you can improve your energy levels and productivity at work? Nutrition plays an integral role in an employee's ability to “show up” at work. We will be joined by a panel of experts who will share their tips for enhanced productivity so you can bring your best self to work.

About the Speaker

Dr Adrian Brown (chair)

Senior Research Fellow/Lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics at UCL

Dr Adrian Brown is a NIHR Advanced Fellow and Senior Research Fellow/Lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics in the Centre of Obesity Research at University College London and programme co-lead of the MSc Dietetics (Pre-registration) course at UCL. He is also a Senior Specialist Weight Management and Bariatric dietitian with over 17 years of clinical experience and a PhD in Medicine from Imperial College London.

His research interests centre around obesity, type 2 diabetes, bariatric surgery, weight stigma, food insecurity and sustainability in people living with obesity and the use of formula-based diets in different patient populations. With his NIHR Advanced fellowship focussing on weight loss in people living with obesity and kidney failure on haemodialysis prior to kidney transplant.

Dr Brown is Chair of the Specialist Obesity Group for the British Dietetic Association, on the board of trustees for the Academy of Nutrition Science, an Honorary Academic for Office for Health Improvement and Disparities, on the strategic council for APPG on Obesity, Steering Committee for Obesity Empowerment Network and is on the scientific council of the British Nutrition Foundation. He is also Associated Editor for Clinical Obesity.

Speakers

Georgine Leung, Nutritionist and Food Educator

Georgine is a UK Registered Nutritionist and Food Educator who has practised across the higher education, charitable and industry sectors for the past 20 years. Her work spans from delivering nutrition training to a wide variety of audiences, writing recipes and developing food and nutrition education resources for different stakeholders. 

Georgine is also completing a PhD at the Institute of Education, where she examines the postpartum food practices of women, their families and caregivers. 

Mariela Martinez, Nutrition Coach at Surgery Hero

Currently working at Surgery Hero, a startup that supports patients in their prehabilitation and recovery from surgery, by improving different areas of their health including nutrition. With over four years of experience as a Clinical Nutritionist, Mariela has worked both as a freelance consultant and within the health tech industry. She is certified as a FODMAP dietitian by Monash University and has a strong interest in gut health.

She holds an undergraduate degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Tecnológico de Monterrey and a Master's in Clinical and Public Health Nutrition from University College London (UCL).

Dr Nicholas Peat, GP with a specialism in Nutritional and Lifestyle Medicine

Dr Nicholas Peat is a GP with a specialism in Nutritional and Lifestyle Medicine and personally overcame stress-related IBS and severe Crohn's disease with a holistic mind, body, and movement approach. He is the Co-Founding Director of Uniquely Created U, whose vision is to see a society in which Lifestyle Medicine is accessible to every individual. His academic background includes bachelor’s degrees in Neuroscience (2004) and Medicine and Surgery (2006) from UCL, along with a Post Graduate Diploma in Nutritional Medicine. He is also an experienced Medical Educator, initiating a Student Selected Component in Human Nutrition for the University of Cambridge in 2022.

Aysenur Tekneci, Nutrition Coach at ZOE

Aysenur is a registered associate nutritionist with a background in public health. After completing her undergraduate in global health and then her masters in public health nutrition at UCL she went on to work in nutrition policy for an NGO and now works as a nutrition coach for ZOE, the leading personalised nutrition tech company specialising in gut health and wellness.
