In the early 21st century academic Anaesthesia at UCL is going from strength to strength.
We are one of the largest and most productive anaesthetic research groupings in the world, with extensive activity and expertise in Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Management research. Our recent key successes include
- Measuring Postoperative Outcomes with SOuRCe
- Starting our MSc in Perioperative Medicine: 2014
- Our portfolio clinical trials
- Dr Roman Cregg and Dr Steve Harris gaining their PhD's
- Appointment of the Academic Anaesthesia trainees (aCCT, Walport Fellows)
- Running our 'Practical introduction to Intensive Care' and Anaesthesia courses
- Developing other courses for anaesthetists
- Being involved with 'RAFT': research and audit for trainees
- Appointment of the first University funded anaesthetists at the National Hospital Queen Square
- Members organised the Cauldwell extreme everest 2007 expedition and 2
- Members developing the virtual heart and being involved in the Education Centre
- Organising our annual 'Dingle' research /education meeting
- Co-founding pan-London the Academic Training Forum in Perioperative Medicine
- Getting Academy of Medical Science/the Health Foundation Funding for Dr Gareth Ackland, Clinican Scientis
