PhD, Social Anthropology

University College London, 2018

Honorary Research Fellow at University College London

Myriam Lamrani is a multimodal anthropologist whose work focuses on visuality and images. During her doctoral studies she was part of the European Research Council (ERC) project: CARP - Comparative Anthropologies of Revolutionary Politics.

Her doctoral research (UCL, 2018 – supervisors M. Holbraad and C. Stewart) was on devotional images, dreams, and art in Oaxaca, Mexico. One of the core concepts that guide her work is that of intimacy as a lens through which to look at the inclusion of politics into the religious, straddling the boundaries between language and image. Her approach is interdisciplinary and multimodal, using new conceptual and empirical approaches to account for the visual in the field. Other geographical areas of interest: Latin America, Greece, and the Mediterranean.
