bioTallinn: A space for reasoning between design, biology and computation
Lecturer's Abstract
"bioTallinn is the title of the Tallinn Architectural Biennale 2017, which focused on the convergence of biology and computation in architecture.
In this lecture, Head Curator Claudia Pasquero will discuss this new synthesis which aims to expand our understanding of the impending global environmental crisis. Pasquero will argue that the problematic field can be reframed, thus enlarging the space for viable technical solutions.
In the main curator exhibition entitled Anthropocene Island, Claudia invited experimental architectural offices, bio-artists and scientists to join her practice ecoLogicStudio in engineering a new bio-digital city founded on the re-metabolisation of Tallinn's wastewater.
The curatorial strategy is at once site specific and prototypical, as it engages the peninsula as a specific project site and a case study of an Anthropocene Landscape, the inevitable frontier of future urbanity."
