Mobile Studio Architects longlisted for housing competition
11 December 2013
Congratulations to Bartlett School of Architecture Unit 9 tutor Chee-Kit Lai, whose practice the Mobile Studio, have been longlisted for the RIBA Housing in the Private Rental Market ideas competition
The competition invited designers to speculate on new ideas for typologies and neighbourhood arrangements to cater for the private rented development, creating truly flexible homes and communities, and other benefits for those privately renting.
Mobile Studio's entry scheme entitled, 'PAYD Houses' (Pay As You Develop Houses), is a new design concept for modular, reconfigurable houses affording flexible accommodation for the long-term tenant. "Economic to build, flexible in design and sustainable across family generations PAYD offers something for everyone," says Mobile Studio.
