Bartlett PhD student launches Accattone #1
30 April 2014
Carlo Menon, a PhD student at The Bartlett School of Architecture, is to launch a new magazine on architecture, entitled Accattone #1, at an event on 29 May at the Betts Project in London.
The magazine is an independent editorial project started in Brussels by Menon and fellow architect Sophie Dars. It attempts to explore, with the specific means of the printed magazine, several themes of contemporary architecture at large. It is a dedicated space for architecture documents: an interview, a visual essay, a drawing, are laid out as fragments of a montage transversal to the issue.
Accattone #1 features artists and architects dealing with found forms, state transformations and 1:1 scale models. The 92-page magazine experiments with editorial devices, such as the the interview by images and attempts to represent projects not as finished 'products', but as part of a creative process.
