Summer Show 2022 Opener Announced
9 May 2022
We are delighted to announce Lesley Lokko as the opener of this year’s Bartlett Summer Show.
On Friday 01 July, architect, academic and author Lesley Lokko will open The Bartlett School of Architecture Summer Show 2022, speaking to students, staff, industry and invited guests at the Private View and Launch.
Lesley Lokko is an alumna of The Bartlett having completed Architecture BSc, Architecture MArch and a PhD in Architectural Design at the school. Most recently, she has been working with staff and students in the capacity of Visiting Professor.
Commenting on opening The Bartlett Summer Show 2022, Lesley says:
“The Bartlett Summer Show is one of the highlights of the ‘architectural’ year. I’m always impressed with the combination of imagination, enthusiasm, and enterprise that is its hallmark. Having supported the school’s digital shows during the pandemic, it is an honour to open this year’s hybrid show, which combines a digital experience with an in-person exhibition in London.”
Lesley has taught in the UK, USA, Ghana, Sweden and South Africa and is the Founder and Director of the African Futures Institute, Accra. She has lectured and published widely on the subject of race, identity, gender and the speculative nature of African cities. Last year, it was announced that Lesley will curate the Architecture Exhibition at the Venice Biennale 2023.
The Bartlett Summer Show launches on Friday 01 July and is open to all for two weeks from 02 July. The show will be online and in-person, with selected works displayed at 22 Gordon Street and a full catalogue of student work available to explore within the school’s award-winning digital show environment.
