25 October 2017
UCL Energy and RCUK CEE Researcher Ian Hamilton presents for the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA) 3rd Energy Ministerial Meeting.
In September, Ian Hamilton, Reader in Energy Epidemiology at UCL Energy Institute and RCUK Centre for Energy Epidemiology, was invited to give a lecture at an international seminar on ‘Energy poverty in Chile’ and to present at a side event for the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA) third Energy Ministerial Meeting.
The seminar was organized by the Ministry of Energy of Chile and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) who are jointly developing a project regarding Energy Poverty in Chile, in accordance with the National Energy Policy 2050 enacted in 2015 and the Sustainable Development Goals proposed by the United Nations.
Dr. Hamilton spoke about the work he and colleague Steve Pye had conducted for the European Commission on Selecting Indicators to Measure Energy Poverty. His talk, “Addressing Energy Poverty in Europe: defining, measuring and understanding its wider impacts” outlined the approach that the EU was taking to define and tackle the problem of energy poverty.
This engagement is part of an ongoing collaboration between UCL Energy Institute and the Ministry of Energy of Chile on energy and sustainability.
